CONSUELO CHIERICI
Born in Milan. Sculptor and performing artist. In the 1980s he moved to New York where he graduated from the New School of Social Researches (BS in Liberal Arts and a diploma from the Mannes College of Music in Music and Audio engineering). She is among the creators of the VIRUS group. Her work has a thematic development that finds lyrical landing in subtle and mysterious tales. Absolutely out of the bizarre fashions of the market, Consuelo creates ancestral presences, luminous, swinging or frozen objects. Silent cities, bodies torn from a denied sensuality. Chessboard where the game is made impossible by an abstract geometry. An entire evocative alphabet that induces reflections on the very meaning of existence.
"In addition to traveling in time, her imagination travels in space, until it reaches the cosmic one. There she seems to find the ancient Sumerian gods, the Anunnaki, who migrated from the fertile crescent in a very distant time, and landed in the form of anthropomorphic missiles on a planet where everything seems to be slower and more real. Straight and firmly planted on the earth, they have insect wings and faces: they are all women goddesses/astronauts, apparently mute, yet they speak with soft colors and their bodies decorated with esoteric symbols. In another star of the same galaxy are his primitive workers, proletarians of a cosmic prehistory made of geometry and light. On this earth, or on a terra incognita of an abandoned world, lie, in the form of polymaterial high reliefs, a sort of sarcophagi lids or tomb slabs on the floor: almost archaeological monuments of a necropolis or a sanctuary to which time has now inflicted its injuries. Her work has a thematic development that finds lyrical landing in subtle and mysterious stories. Decidedly outside the market trends, Consuelo creates ancestral presences, luminous, swinging or frozen objects. Silent cities, bodies torn from a denied sensuality. Chessboards where the game is made impossible by an abstract geometry. An entire evocative alphabet that leads to reflections on the very meaning of existence."
